    Timing Belt Replacement

Over the last 30 years in the interest of making vehicle engines more efficient to operate, many vehicle manufacturers have done away with the traditional Timing Chain and designed their engines to run on a Timing Belt. Unlike a "fan belt" or a traditional accessory drive belt, a Timing Belt is inside of your engine and usually requires a substantial amount of time and expertise to replace. Timing belts keep your engines Crankshaft and Camshaft(s) in "time" and are critical to engine operation and performance.

Most manufacturers recommend Timing Belt replacement between 60,000 and 90,000 miles. Don't go past the recommended interval or you may have major problems! Depending on the Make & Model of your vehicle, In the event of Timing Belt breakage the best case scenario would be getting stranded, while the worst case scenario would be major engine damage. This depends on whether or not your vehicle has what's referred to as an "Interferance Engine".

Have Questions about your vehicles timing belt or whether it has one or not? Feel free to call us at (530) 477-5712 or Click Here to send us an Email, if you're not sure of your vehicles Timing Belt Replacement Interval.

    Cooling System

The cooling system is one of the most important parts of your vehicle. We have come a long way from the thermosyphoning cooling system in the early ford model T’s. Our cooling systems are now more efficient than ever. The modern day cooling system works by circulating coolant via a coolant pump through the engine block to keep it from overheating.

Cameron applies gasket adhesive/sealant to a
    waterpump prior to installation.

The coolant starts in the radiator and gets cooled by the air flowing through the radiator. The coolant then passes through the hoses into coolant canals built into the engine block. All of the cooling components work in unison to keep the engine from over heating and causing major engine damage. In order to keep your cooling system working properly we recommend a coolant flush every thirty thousand miles. A major benefit of flushing your coolant regularly is it keeps your heater core from plugging up and causing your heater to stop working. Also our technicians can inspect for leaks and any damage your radiator may have incurred. We also recommend replacing your thermostat regularly. If your vehicle is due for its regular coolant flush or if it’s over heating we have the knowledge and equipment to get your cooling system working properly.

    Driveability diagnosis

Does your vehicle have a drive ability problem? Well first we need to describe what a drive ability problem is. Your driving down the road and all of the sudden your vehicle loses power. As its loosing power it gets harder and harder to drive. Then your vehicle dies on you. If this describes your situation you have one type of many driveability problems. So you get your vehicle towed into the shop. The first thing our service advisors will do is get the story on your vehicle. The service advisor will write down your story  and or have you fill out a questionnaire; the service advisor will then give the technician the story. These questions will assist the technician in diagnosing your vehicle quickly and accurately. Our ASE trained technicians will start with a road test to verify the vehicles concern. Lube Oil & Filter Services

At Foothill Car Care we strongly believe in preventative maintenance to keep your vehicle running strong. A very important preventative maintenance is the oil service. Changing your fluid regularly keeps your engine's moving parts lubricated. Keeping your parts lubricated reduces heat from friction, and keeps the engine running smoothly. With out good oil circulating through your engine you are running the risk of causing major damage to your engine. Keeping fresh oil in your engine also reduces sludge build up. Having to much sludge in your engine robs your vehicle of getting the best gas mileage possible. Regular oil services help keep your vehicle running strong for a long time. When you come in to Foothill Car Care for an oil service, we not only flush your oil and replace your filter we offer a complimentary vehicle inspection. We offer the complimentary vehicle inspection to keep you informed of the mechanical condition of your vehicle.
